Стаття покликана спровокувати деякі думки з приводу зв’язків між
«Правом, розумом та емоціями» (тема Всесвітнього конгресу Міжнародної асоціації філософії права і соціальної філософії (IVR), що відбудеться у 2015 р. у Вашингтоні). Автор стверджує, що право, розум та емоції тісно пов’язані між собою і є в дійсності провідними цінностями будь-якої дієвої правової системи.
Базова аксіома раціональної справедливості полягає в тому, що кожна людина є цінністю, і що кожен заслуговує на підтримку і допомогу в досягненні гідного й повноцінного життя разом з іншими людьми. Найкраще законодавство та найцікавіша й найпереконливіша філософія та інтерпретація права повинні враховувати наші природні людські емоції, оскільки вони пов’язані з можливістю гарного життяі правилами справедливого суспільства. Емоції мають заохочуватись або ні залежно від їх цінності і очікуваного ефекту, в світлі розуму і справедливості. Ми не можемо і не повинні заперечувати апеляцію права до розуму, але емоції залишаються першою і останньою основою справедливості та граничною підставою права.
